MASTERING

Due to popular demand we are now offering a full Online Mastering Service designed especially for digital releases and the Serato/CD DJ market. Due to the lack of good mastering in the digital DJ domain levels of tracks played on dance floors and on mp3 players vary enormously. Often tracks that have the potential to have high dancefloor impact do not live up to their full potential and sound flat next to other mastered tracks.

From as little as £25 per track we can put your tracks through the necessary processes to ensure a perfect balance of high impact and comfortable listening.

The process works in the same way as sending tracks to cut onto our dubs. Simply upload the tracks in our dropbox and we will then master your tracks and send you an mp3 to view and approve before sending you the full master.

Preparing your Master

To help us get the most out of your mixes, please avoid sending us tracks that are over compressed/limited and mixed to 0db (see above image). Please try and leave 2db headroom for us to work with and keep your stereo signals to a maximum of 30% of your track. Too much stereo can be tiresome on the ear, especially in high frequencies. If you are having difficulties getting your mix the way you want, you could consider taking advantage of our stem mixing or analogue mixing sevices.

Our Mastering process

It's easy to think that a mastered track is just a louder version of a mix, but the reality is much more. A good master should have both good volume, balance and punch whilst retaining good dynamics. By keeping lots of movement in the track we can ensure that the relationship between the kick and the snare will give impact on both a home hi-fi and a 10K rig. To ensure this we use a combination of high end digital equipmet vintage analogue mastering equalizers and a range of custom made full range mastering monitors to check the mix.

Redbook Master CDs

This is the master CD used to manufacture your run of promo CDs or mix tapes. These are quite easy to make with the right software. If however you are unable to do this, we will be happy to do it for a nominal £5 per track.
